You Don’t Need to Know Everything to Get Started

What’s stopping you from moving forward in your career or business?

If your answer is, “I don’t know enough yet,” you’re not alone.

In a recent session, I worked with Mark—a seasoned corporate trainer transitioning into therapy. He’s highly experienced, knows his industry inside out, but still felt blocked by this nagging thought: “I don’t know enough to start.”

Here’s what I told him: Confidence isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about taking action—even when you don’t know many things.

Most of us are taught to believe we need a full plan before we begin. We think, “Once I know everything, then I’ll feel ready.” But life doesn’t work like that. Ever taken the same route to work and still hit surprise traffic? That’s life.

It’s not about control. It’s about flexibility. It’s not about certainty. It’s about self-trust and self-belief.

Through RTT, we explored the deeper reason behind Mark’s self-doubt. Because here’s the thing: you weren’t born needing to “earn” your confidence. Babies don’t wait for permission to walk, fall, or try again. They just go for it.

So when did we decide we’re not allowed to try unless we’re perfect?

That belief didn’t come from nowhere—it was learned. And if it was learned, it can be unlearned.

That’s what therapy helps us do. Unlearn the doubts. Relearn the confidence. And trust that the version of you who’s figuring things out… is already enough.

If you're waiting to feel ready, you might be waiting forever. Take one step. Let clarity meet you on the way.
