Confidence in Uncertainty: Why Coaches Need to Walk the Path First

Let’s be real—uncertainty can feel terrifying.
Especially when you’re starting something new, like building a coaching business. You might have all the knowledge. You might even be the person people go to for advice.
And still, you freeze.
That’s exactly where Emily was. She came to me with years of experience in marketing. She knew how to position others. But when it came to positioning herself as a coach? She wasn’t sure where to begin.
So we went deeper.
Because this isn’t just about strategy or clarity—it’s about confidence. Not the kind that shows up after success. The kind that shows up before.
Confidence in the face of uncertainty.
That’s what we focused on in our RTT session. We anchored her in the belief that it’s okay not to know everything right now. That she can still move forward, still help others, and still succeed while she figures it out.
I reminded her that before you can help someone else find their story, you have to live yours.
And that story? It starts when you step forward, not when everything is figured out.
Emily walked out of that session with a renewed belief: She doesn’t need to wait to become confident. She just needs to start acting like the coach she already is.
